TWO hotel projects presented in Alora following the recent reopening of the Caminito del Rey (King’s Walkway) have been halted by the regional government over two words.Although the village is waiting with open arms for the work and business opportunities the hotels will provide, the Junta de Andalucia (regional government) has refused to let construction begin because municipal regulations do not include the term ‘rural hotel’.Mayor Jose Sanchez said that the council was working to adapt the wording and solve the problem as quickly as possible to allow the hotels, in the Cerro Taivilla and El Chopo areas, to be built.“We need more beds in the area as we only have one hotel and two hostels at the moment and more and more people are coming since the Caminito opened,” he said.
