Isabel Pantoja refused a downgraded sentence

THE Spanish celebrity Isabel Pantoja, currently serving a two-year sentence in Seville Prison for money laundering, has been denied the chance of having her sentence downgraded to a level three sentence.
Grade three prisoners can enjoy a much greater degree of freedom and the Spanish singer had applied for a lower level of sentence after serving almost a quarter of her term in jail.
While the prison tribunal reached a three-three stalemate in voting over the matter, the final say fell to the prison director, who decided to uphold his original vote in refusing Pantoja more freedom by insisting she continues her grade two sentence.
However, the prisoner could appeal this latest ruling though the Secretary General of Institutions and Pantoja’s defence team could argue her case before the Prison Court.
