A LONG-AWAITED financial boost is now confirmed to improve Rincon de la Victoria’s water treatment service and sewage systems. An agreement between the town council and the municipal water treatment company Axaragua, belonging to the commonwealth of Costa del Sol-Axarquia municipalities, has allocated a total of €75,000 to improve different structures.“The need to improve the performance and service of the town’s drainage systems is one of our priorities due to the many faults we have detected,” said Mayor Encarnacion Anaya.“Actions will be launched in three different areas, aimed at avoiding waste discharge in the case of a malfunction,” said Environment councillor, Jose Maria Gomez.Works include improvements to the overflow channel of Torre de Benagalbon, which will be extended for safety reasons and have a cost of €30,000.The second main project will be in Rincon de la Victoria at the Los Rubios district. The area’s main pipe is broken and is discharging water 500 metres off the coast, instead of the necessary 1,000 metres. Repair work is expected to cost €40,000.The third project will be carried out in Huerta Julian with a budget of €5,000.
