A MAN of 60 has died in Sax after being hit by a van. The incident occurred on the CV-833 between Elda and Sax at about 1.25pm on Sunday July 5.
The man who died was riding a motorcycle toward Elda when he was hit front on by a Valencia-registered van. The motorcyclist was turning left into his property when the van tried to overtake. The victim died just five metres from home. He was wearing a crash helmet.
In a separate incident in Benidorm, four people were injured in the Triangular Plaza, next to a pedestrian crossing near a Bingo hall, at about 3.15pm. The injured were a Spanish national and also a young boy aged nine and his grandparents. Early reports indicated that a driver lost control of his vehicle and rammed the pedestrians as they were crossing the road.
The child and his grandfather were both seriously injured, the little boy with a suspected broken leg. The other two sustained minor injuries. All were taken to the Marina Baixa Hospital.
