INVESTIGATIONS continue following new twists in a case of alleged sexual abuse suffered by an 11-year-old Malaga girl.
Although the girl’s father was initially arrested as the main suspect in February and protection measures put into place for her mother, who claimed to be totally dominated and threatened by her husband, the tables have turned and the mother remanded in custody after the Guardia Civil finally gained access to images on computers confiscated from the family home.
Initially believed to be another victim of abuse, the mother was arrested after external experts were called in to help view images stored on computers and hard disks which the police force had been unable to get into due to high security encryption.
While she was questioned by a judge and charged for involvement in the abuse before being sent to jail by a judge, prison workers at Alhaurin de la Torre jail found the father had hanged himself in an isolation cell where he was reportedly placed to protect him from other inmates.
Although the main suspect is now out of the picture, investigations continue and the girl’s mother is expected to face trial.
