Tourists spending more on the Balearic Islands

TOURISTS are leading the Balearic Island’s financial recovery as the region has registered the highest rate of tourism expenditure of the past five years.
During the first five months of 2015, each tourist who visited the Islands spent on average €108.90 per day, a figure much higher than the one registered back in 2010, €93.40 per day, according to the data published this week by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Energy.
In total, tourists generated revenue of €2.17 billion from January to May, also higher than previous years.
The report collected information from several sectors such as the hotel industry, public and private transport, restaurants and commerce, amongst others.
