A WAVE energy plant is due to be finished in Gibraltar by the end of the year. The wave farm will be comprised of eight second-generation floaters on a pier and is expected to generate around 15 per cent of Gibraltar´s energy consumption and help meet its renewable energy targets by 2020.The Gibraltar Government agreed an initial pipeline deal in 2014 with the company Eco Wave Power, which has just completed its second-generation power plant in Israel. It aims to provide a renewable wave energy source that is both cost-efficient and reliable and has invested significant resources in developing the technology to do so. Earlier in July, its renewable energy products earned the company an environmental award from Erasmus University.
