Baby found in city bin

TWO Guardia Civil officers in Madrid have rescued a newborn baby from an underground rubbish bin in Mejorada del Campo, Madrid.
The authorities were alerted first thing this morning (Wednesday 15) by a passer-by, who reported having heard a baby crying while walking his dog in the area at 7.20am.
Local Police and Guardia Civil officers were sent to the scene, and a municipal worker was called out to raise the platform under the bin to the surface.
The baby, a boy estimated to be between seven and 10 days old, was found inside a rucksack.
A 112 Emergency Services spokesperson explained that the baby had been taken to Henares Hospital and placed under observation but appeared to be in a stable condition.
