THE Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Perez, led members of the council in a minute’s silence to remember the victims of domestic abuse.
The silence was held at the town hall and is part of the Mayor’s initiative to assist victims and put an end to the tendency for domestic abuse to be kept hidden.
So far this year there have been 21 deaths in Spain which have featured physical attacks by a partner. Three days ago a young woman in La Palma was set on fire by her partner using lighter fluid. She died from her injuries.
