Gandia Shore to Ibiza Shore

LOVE it or hate it, Spain’s interpretation of the infamous Jersey Shore television series is back for another ride on the airwaves. Gandia Shore ran for only one series but proved a hit with the public. In its first series, the programme won more than 700,000 viewers over a fourteen-week period, breaking MTV Spain’s all-time ratings record. Eight young strangers holidaying in a shared house on the Valencia Costa was a popular TV choice. Gandia Shore was due to return for a second series until programming issues intervened.
Although Gandia Shore favourites Arantxa, Esteban and Ylenia have moved onto pastures new, the series is ready to return after a full two years away from our screens. For the first series, MTV Spain wanted young people who were good-looking, spontaneous, fun, uninhibited, with great bodies and who loved to party and flirt. This season’s programme follows a similar agenda, but this year sees the series move to the party island of Ibiza, just a short distance from the port of Denia.
The stars of the new series have not yet been named, but previous contestants are thought not to have been invited back. Producers are searching for a mixture of young men and women who are willing to live together on an island where excess is the norm.
The new show has been re-branded Ibiza Shore, and contestants are being sourced via social networking sites.
