How to test if your pool is leaking

PRIVATE POOLS: Can normally be tested in an hour, larger pools take longer.

MANY people call Splash Pools Mijas during the hot weather thinking their pool has a leak.
More often than not the loss is caused by evaporation – it is quite surprising how much is lost this way.
A simple way to check this out is to fill a bucket of water and mark the level then mark the level of water in the pool at the same time.
Make sure that both are not disturbed for the next few days.
Then look at the levels – if the pool and bucket loss are the same the loss will be from evaporation.
If the pool has gone down a lot more than the bucket then you will need to let the water level drop until it stops… this will save time on leak detection and often pinpoints where the leak is. Splash Pools Mijas have professional leak detecting equipment from the States – both helium and sonic devices.
The cost for this service is 80€ per hour plus IVA for private pools and 160€ per hour plus IVA for very large or community pools – this is because the larger pipes use more helium during testing.
Private pools can normally be tested in an hour, larger pools will often take longer as there are more pipes etc. to test.
Once the test has been made Splash Pools Mijas will write up a report of what has been found and the cost for repairs. For more information call Splash Pools 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday on 952 591 053 or visit their website www.splashpools.es.
