IMMIGRANTS will soon be provided with health cards once again, the President of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, has said. A decree to overrule the State Decree of 2012 will be approved “imminently” she said, which will mean that 20,000 people will get their health card back. She announced this during a visit to sa Pobla Health Centre where she was accompanied by the councillor for Health, Patricia Gomez. She also said that health is a priority for the new Regional Government and that she is “aware the cutbacks have put the health system in danger and that health care professionals have had to carry out a huge effort in order to carry out their daily work.” She clarified that immigrants with health cards will have the same rights as the rest of the citizens of the Balearic Islands. Leaving immigrants without protection, she pointed out, puts everyone at risk because there is no way of preventing disease from spreading or following patients’ evolution.
