ALBOX residents are growing increasingly environmentally-friendly and are doing so for a good cause.During the first six months of 2015, the company in charge of the Albox donated-clothing collection company ‘East West Productos Textiles’, has retrieved almost 8,000 kilos of used clothes from the eight drop-off points placed in the most crowded urban areas.This number is pretty similar to the amount of kilos collected in a whole year during past seasons.The new method, consisting of dropping different kinds of clothes in different containers, has represented an improvement in terms of management and selection of clothes, as well as facilitating the process for residents.According to the statistics provided by “East West”, in Avenida Lepanto, a total of 1,368 kilos were collected, 1,098 in Avenida America, in Carretera Albox-Chrivel, it was 1,529 kilos. The one located in Plaza San Francisco obtained 993 kilos, 637 in the one at Calle del Muro, added those collected in Ramon y Cajal (1,034) and 609 in Avenida de la Estacion. At the municipal nursery school, a total of 723 kilos were dropped and finally.Mayor of Albox, Rogelio Mena, has described these results as “very positive”, stressing that this measure aims at encouraging the reuse and re-valuation of used clothes, as well as contributing to environmental protection.
