ALMERIA City’s Los Almendros neighbourhood has until August 1 to legalise its electricity supply. Many residents in this marginalised part of the city had made illegal connections and following an overhaul of the district’s electricity supply last April, power company Endesa installed 295 meters in Los Almendros homes. So far a third of the residents have registered as users, a process costing €400 although Endesa will allow families without financial resources to pay in instalments. All formalities must be completed by August 1, the deadline agreed by the Los Almendros residents. “After that the situation must be regularised, as it is elsewhere in the city,” said Joaquin Jimenez, the regional government’s Public Works delegate to Almeria.
