SEA processions are a very popular tradition along the coasts of Malaga and Granada and Lux Mundi has organised a trip to allow expats to witness one for themselves.
Lux Mundi Torre del Mar will visit Almuñecar on August 15 to take part in ‘The Spectacular Big Bang.’ Participants will travel by coach to enjoy the festivities in honour of the Virgen de la Antigua, which have been celebrated without interruption since 1569.
The great variety of activities that take place in the town throughout the week culminate on the night of August 15, with the traditional procession where members of a brotherhood carry the Virgin’s icon from the Incarnation Church to the San Cristobal beach, accompanied from there by many boats to the Playa Puerta del Mar. After that, visitors will be able to enjoy a magical firework display, set to music.
Departure times are as follows: Viñuela (Football pitch) at 6pm, Torre Del Mar 6.30pm, Caleta 6.45pm, Algarrobo (Lidl) 6.55pm. Tickets are €15 euros with all proceeds going to fundraising and can be collected at the Centre (Avda. Moscatel 1).
