ALMUÑECAR Council has acquired nine automated external defibrillators (AED), which will allow a fast response by emergency services or witnesses in case of sudden cardiac arrests, according to the Citizens’ Safety councillor, Juan Jose Ruiz Joya.With a total cost of €16,000 these devices will be placed at municipal facilities including at the Sports Centre Francisco Bonet, the Civic Centre in La Herradura, the municipal stadium Las Tejas and two Local Police patrol vehicles, amongst other locations.“These devices will be used to improve the chances of survival after suffering a cardiac arrest,” said Mr Martinez. “They are especially easy to use as the AED screen shows instructions to properly handle the device.”
