No cash for job scheme in Mijas

Lee.S.T

MIJAS Council has had to publicly admit that it can’t afford to continue with its Renta Basica employment scheme over the summer.
Councillors Carmen Carmona and Lourdes Burgos explained that no new workers would be taken on before October due to a lack of funds, but promised that a solution would be sought to restart the scheme as soon as possible.
The scheme provided work for 684 people last year and has so far this year benefitted about 350 families.
