Customs seize £5 million worth of cannabis on Gibraltar reef

MORE than 1.5 tonnes of cannabis was seized by HM Customs in a high-profile Gibraltar operation which saw three men arrested. The drugs, estimated to have a street value of £5 million, were confiscated by officers from the new Enforcement and Marine units after being found on-board a high speed powerboat which crashed into a Sandy Bay reef on Saturday (July 25).
Two crew members were arrested by Customs with a third detained by Royal Gibraltar Police. The three men, two Spanish and one French, made a Magistrates court appearance on Monday July 27 under the charges of importing 1.5 tonnes of cannabin resin worth around £5 million.
