Guardia Civil in Calpe have taken three people into custody after they were caught allegedly using cloned cards at an ATM machine in the town. The detainees, two men and a woman, are charged with using counterfeit credit cards, belonging to a criminal organisation and bank fraud. The police moved in on the three on Wednesday July 22 while they were in the process of extracting cash using cards with cloned details. Such crimes have been prolific in the area. In this instance, the suspects used the ‘Lebanese Loop’ method which involves the insertion of a strip of metal or plastic into the ATM slot, preventing the cloned card from being retained and enabling the fraudster to continue using it.
