ALFAZ DEL PI’S mayor, Vicente Arques, is determined to implement a continuous school day for the town’s children. After the change of government in May the mayor held a meeting with educational authorities and representatives and pledged to mediate in order to bring to fruition the introduction of the continuous day, doing away with the traditional afternoon break that causes so many parents extra work, extra travelling and extra cash for childminding that most young parents can ill afford.More than 90 per cent of families in the community have voted to support the change in their children’s daily routine. The council confirmed on Friday (July 24) that the team in L’Alfaz was working with joint committees to work out an acceptable and workable timetable that will be acceptable to everyone.
