THIS family has been in the jewellery business for generations. Originally from the Brighton Lanes, Anthony arrived here on the Costa del Sol in 1979. On landing here he fell in love with a derelict villa on the Benalmadena coast, which he transformed into a restaurant, but it was unfortunately partly destroyed in a landslide.
After much inconvenience regarding compensation issues, Anthony rose up against this challenge to do what he does the best. As he said: “It may sound dreadful but I am really a glorified scrap dealer.
“It’s not rocket science. It is the same with diamonds as gold or paper money, each one has a price.
“People shop around for cars or food at the best price, so why not shop around for diamonds? People today want good value for money, they are fed up with fancy lights and boxes.” According to Anthony one BBC programme reported that some jewellers were charging as much as 10 times the face value of diamond prices.
He went on to say: “One woman came into the shop with a necklace she had paid £360,000 for, but the gold and the rubies were worth nothing. You have to wrap your head around it as it is all about starting off on the right foot with the right price.” Anthony offers quality jewellery at sensible prices. Why pay over the odds for the same product at a high street store? He added: “You can’t beat second-hand jewellery prices. It’s not just antique jewellery, it’s diamonds reset in platinum or gold, the same diamonds as three million years ago.
“That’s what gives them their value, they are three million years old. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so why not get the best for less.”
Anthony has been based in Fuengirola for more than 12 years, and as others come and go, his business continues to thrive as he always gives good value for money.
