THE Balearic Government plans to change the law so that assets which have not been assigned in a will are transferred to the region.
It is currently assigned to the State, but the regional government plans to start procedures in order to modify regional civil law.
In the past four years, €2.11 million has gone to the state from the assets of the deceased who had no relatives and had not made a will.
The Civil Code establishes that two thirds of an inheritance in these cases should go to charity.
