Bale scores as Real see off his old team Spurs

REAL MADRID beat Spurs 2-0 in the Audi Cup friendly tournament in Germany, Gareth Bale scoring the second goal of the game in his first game against his old London club since his move to the Spanish club.

The Welshman’s goal celebration was muted, having spent six years at Tottenham before moving on in 2013. But it was a fine shot, low and swerving with great pace, leaving Spurs goalie Michel Vorm clutching fresh air.

With Real boss Rafael Benitez having handed Bale a more central role on the pitch, it may also have dashed hopes of Man Utd fans who’ve been following speculation the world’s most expensive player is on his way to Old Trafford.

Real’s other goal was from the head of Colombian world cup star James.

Real now go on to meet Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, who fought off AC Milan in a much more fierce contest in the other semi-final, while Spurs meet the Italian side on Wednesday night (August 5) in a play off for third place.
