ENDESA has once again cut the electricity supply to La Vaguada homes that have been taken over by squatters.
There are few legal occupants on what was planned as a luxury urbanisation of duplex properties in Almeria City. Few have been sold and 36 are now occupied by the squatters.
Endesa has cut off their electricity in the past but had to leave a supply for two legally-inhabited homes. This allowed the undeterred squatters to make illegal connections to the existing cables and continue as before.
This time Policia Nacional officers escorted Endesa employees to La Vaguada where they cut off the supply and have now installed underground cables.
This guarantees electricity for the legal homes while ruling out legal hook-ups for the squatters, Endesa said.
