AS residents of the Costa Blanca struggle to cope, with the extreme heat in temperatures topping 30 degrees most days (and nights) despite the recent fall of rain, their discomfort is further aggravated by a shortage of electric fans.
One resident told the Euro Weekly News: “I searched five shops for an entire morning to find a small table-top fan for my son to study in comfort but in the end had to give up – there just aren’t any available!”
The heatwave has resulted in a complete exhaustion of stock. Local supermarkets and hardware stores in just about every town up and down the Costa Blanca sold out their summer stock in just two weeks after the heatwave hit, with no hope of early replenishments, leaving no other choice but to order online and hope for prompt delivery.
