JABS: Chickenpox to be added to vaccination calendar.
HEALTH authorities in Valencia have agreed to include the chickenpox vaccine on the vaccination calendar for children.
The cost of vaccination will mean an expenditure of around €6 million, with children receiving a first dose of the vaccine aged between 12 and 15 months and a second aged three and four years.
The move follows continuous calls from paediatricians to include the vaccine in the schedule considering it is a disease with a high risk of contagion.
The decision was not unanimous with communities governed by the PSOE expressing dissatisfaction with this measure saying it was not justified by some scientific societies.
