AN ALMERIA court has sentenced two maintenance workers from El Ejido’s Hospital de Poniente for breaking into a vending machine and stealing the money inside.
The men were found to have used their ability to move freely inside the premises to enter an area which was closed and use a drill to break into a drinks machine and steal €60. While the first, who admitted to the crime, was jailed for two years, the second denied the charges stating he had no need to steal and his colleague was blaming him out of jealousy, leading the judge to sentence him to three years and seven months in jail for lack of cooperation.
The sentences took into account a breach of confidence on the part of both men for using their privileged positions as hospital workers to carry out the theft.
