A DAY of official mourning was declared in Coin and the day’s fair celebrations suspended on Wednesday (August 12) after a three-year-old boy fell from his bedroom window and died.
Although emergency services rushed to the scene they could do nothing to save the child’s life and he was pronounced dead at 12.45pm, an hour after he fell more than nine metres from the window onto an inner patio in the block of flats on Calle Manuel Garcia where he lived.
Initially investigators suspected the tragic event had been an accident, but later in the day, following warnings from the maternal grandparents, Guardia Civil officers arrested his mother claiming there was a chance she would flee from the area.
Post-mortem examination results are pending as investigations into the event continue.
