WHEN looking to the sky in Torrox one will find not only blue but also orange, yellow and even green thanks to an original initiative that has set up more than 600 umbrellas across the town’s streets.
The colourful ensemble not only provides a picturesque view but also a pleasant shaded area which is appreciated by everyone walking across the Old Town centre in the extreme temperatures of sunny Malaga.
Mayor of the town, Oscar Medina, explained in a statement that this initiative launched by the council had been designed as an original, unique and innovative new feature of Torrox, which is also expected to become a tourist attraction.
He pointed out that the installation was set up by a local company and will remain in place until the winter.
Paola Moreno, deputy Mayor of Torrox, explained that the works have coincided with the local fair of the district El Morche, which meant that a large number of tourists had already been able to enjoy this new umbrella extravaganza.
Pictures are a courtesy of Council Secretary Salva Escudero, who told the Euro Weekly News that more umbrellas were expected to be set up in the town to expand the shaded area with a colourful and original idea.
