BUILDINGS near Parque de las Familias in Almeria City that have attracted squatters are soon to be knocked down.The Executive Commission of Urbanism has approved a contract to demolish the industrial unit and home located at the plot of land near the Parque de las Familias and Maestro Padilla Auditorium.According to municipal sources, the goal is to improve the appearance of the area as during the years it has been home for illegal shanties and municipal houses that were occupied also illegally.The town council has estimated the price of the project at €20,300, and it has already been put out to tender. They were expecting to have these properties demolished in a very short period of time, council representatives assured.In addition to the demolition, municipal workers will also clean the area and improve the general conditions.People who are currently inhabitants to these soon-to-be-demolished homes and do not have anywhere else to live have been offered several options, says the town council.
