A fire which started in Cerros de Aguila on the Mijas Costa has been swiftly brought under control by emergency services.
On late Tuesday morning, local residents reported white smoke billowing from an area called Balcon, which is close to the hills.
Police and fire services attended along with two helicopters. No evacuation of local residents was necessary on this occasion.
The site is uncannily close to the place where a similar-sized blaze broke out in July of this year, leading authorities to question whether both fires were started deliberately.
The Euro Weekly News spoke to David Bañasco, head of the fire brigade in Mijas, and firefighter Manuel Morales. Morales told the EWN “I have my suspicions that the fire was started intentionally as there is no other account for this.”
