TWO employees of tobacconist Estanco Alonso, located in Camino de Coin (Las Lagunas, Mijas Costa) were injured after two people carried out a robbery at gunpoint.

The robbery took place on Friday (August 28) at 11.35am in Calle Miguel Bueno in the Boquetillo district, one of the areas on the border between Mijas and Fuengirola.

According to the authorities, the two employees had exited the shop with the day’s takings, which they were taking to a nearby bank, when they were approached by two individuals who are believed to have followed them on motorbikes. One of them is said to have hit one of the employees in the face with the butt of a gun, while the other delivered a serious blow to the second employee with a baton on his head.

After that, one of the employees was able to call the National Police and both were taken to the outpatients’ clinic in Las Lagunas, although with minor injuries.

Police officers continue to investigate the events and have called for residents’ collaboration on the matter.
