MIJAS council has decided to release €3.9 million to pay pending bills and liquidate several local boards.

More than €352,529 will be released in order to liquidate the boards in charge of Sports, the Popular University and Land and Housing, which, according to the Councillor for Economy and Taxes, Mario Bravo, is the last step in a process launched in late 2014 and which will mean the departments are now part of the council’s administrative structure.

Meanwhile, more than €3.59 million will be released to pay bills from suppliers and service providers who have mainly been involved in works to improve the town so far this year. They will be paid with the surplus expected from this year’s budget.

The councillor explained that there had been unexpected expenses this year and the available money had already been spent, but that some suppliers had already waited four months to be paid.
