In Motril ‘Botellon’ bother

AFTERMATH: The council wants to eliminate noise and litter on the streets.

RESIDENTS have spent all summer complaining about the noise caused by the ‘botellon’ street drinking party currently located in the municipal pool car park.

It was originally situated there to give young people a space to drink and socialise without disturbing the peace and the well-being of the residents or dirtying the city.

However, Motril Council has now decided to put an end to the complaints by finding a more suitable place to relocate it to.

Ideally, the new location should be accessible on foot, thus preventing drink-driving and should be far enough away from residential buildings that the noise, racket and rubbish left by the ‘botellon’ will not affect any residents or be the subject of complaints.

Motril Council has affirmed that it will continue monitoring the street party, not by constant police surveillance but by campaigns focused on giving young people other leisure alternatives and trying to reduce the number of ‘botellones’ celebrated as a whole.
