MORE than 23,000 tourists attended Almuñecar’s tourism offices during the summer.
According to the data released by Tourism Councillor Rafael Caballero, Almuñecar has experienced one of the most important summers in terms of volume of tourists and hotel occupancy.
National tourists amounted to more than 63 per cent, while international tourists were 36.7 per cent. Out of the total foreign visitors, French led the list by nationality with 39 per cent, followed by British tourists (16.6 per cent), Germans (12.24 per cent) and Scandinavians (11 per cent), amongst others.
“We have registered an increase of 5 per cent in the number of visitors from France and Belgium,” said Rafael Caballero.
