LAST year’s fire in Competa’s signs can still be seen today but a new project is aiming to bring the area back to life.
The Competa Council has announced that, in collaboration with the Regional Environment Department, a project has been designed to retrieve the burnt wood which is still present in the area after the blaze that affected a great patch of land last year.
The fire burnt down areas in the Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Parks, as well as several private properties, located next to these protected areas.
Works have already started and are expected, according to the Junta de Andalucia experts, to be finished by October 15.
