A THIRTY-year-old Colombian man was shot to death on Thursday (September 17) in the Las Cañadas district of Mijas Costa

The man, witnesses reported, was shot seven times from a passing motorbike as he was sitting in his wife’s car, parked on Camino de Campanales.

Although passersby hearing shots ring out at about 7.30pm assumed they were coming from a nearby chemist’s shop, which has been robbed various times in the past, a woman travelling in a car immediately behind the motorbike when the shots were made, rushed into the chemists to raise the alert and the Guardia Civil were called.

Local Police teams were also sent to the scene and cordoned off the area while Guardia Civil officers inspected CCTV recordings from the chemist in search of clues. Less than half an hour later there were about 200 people stuck in the area, and owners of nearby vehicles were not allowed to move their cars until the body was removed late at night.

The deceased’s Italian wife, who arrived at the scene at 9pm, had to be given medical assistance for shock.
