The Eiffel Tower at dawn
THE Eiffel Tower, one of the world’s most visited attractions, was closed on Sunday September 20 after a man carrying a rucksack was seen climbing the tower.
Following the raising of the alarm, the iconic tower was evacuated while anti-terror police carried out a search of the Paris landmark but appeared to have been unable to find the man.
France is on a very high state of alert due to the various terror attacks which have already occurred this year and the tower which attracts large numbers of visitors each day has been the subject of numerous terrorist threats.
Although this could be a serious attempt on the tower, equally it could be another idiot hoping to perform a parachute jump.
