SPAIN brought home the gold on Sunday September 20 delivering their best defensive display at EuroBasket 2015 and witnessing this was a record breaking crowd of 27,372.

Spain has reclaimed their throne by winning the Euro basketball gold for the third time with a secure 80-63 win over Lithuania in the final at Villeneuve-d’Ascq in France.

It is no shock that Pau Gasol was awarded the Most Valuable Player, finishing with 25 points and 12 rebounds and the powerful defence stifled Lithuania 80-63. The 35-year-old powerhouse is the top scorer in the entire championship with an average of 23.6 points per game and certainly delivered the goods on Sunday evening.

Gasol stated, “The basis and the key to success is that each one of us has done our part in order to win this gold.”

Spain has secured their place in next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
