SUNDAY (September 27) marks the resumption of Almuñecar’s hiking routes as organised by the town council.
This first route, named ‘Ferreira Refugee – Arrieros Inn’, will take participants on a journey around the historic medieval paths of the National Park of Sierra Nevada, taking in the beauty of its hills and its large pine tree forests.
“The hike is expected to pass through a cool area, due to the altitude which nears 2,000 metres and also the natural shade,” said coordinator Enrique Garin, who continued: “Participants are advised to bring warm clothes as it may well be cold.”
He encouraged all hiking enthusiasts to participate as the route is specially recommended for those who are new the activity, and stressed that the group enables participation in sports, history and friendship.
Those interested can request more information at the municipal sports pavilion in Almuñecar’s office in Calle Puerto de la Cruz, or can call on 958 883 142.
