Finestrat environmental campaign

THE Department of Environment in Finestrat have placed a total of 15 signs informing the public about the correct use of the waste collection points in the town. As explained by the councillor for the Environment, Thomas Sellés, the information boards have been placed at points where a higher incidence of excess waste has been found piling up outside of the containers.

The signposts outline the main points and include information on Bylaw No.12 of municipal solid waste and street cleaning, as well pointing out the fines that will be given for non-compliance with the rules.

It is prohibited to leave rubbish bags outside the containers and fines of up to €600 can be issued. It is also prohibited to leave construction and gardening waste either inside or outside the containers which also can attract fines of between €600 – €1,500. This type of material must be deposited at the municipal depots. Residents can also ask the town hall to collect garden waste by contacting, toll free, 900 87 88 70 on weekdays and from 8am to 3pm. You can also send an email to the address contacta@finestrat.org and collection will be arranged within 24 hours. The town hall is currently promoting many initiatives and incentives to turn Benidorm and the surrounding areas into a more environmentally friendly and cleaner area for all to enjoy.
