FOLLOWING a record-breaking summer for tourism, the high season for cruises has reached Malaga City with October due to be the busiest month of the year.

This month, 41 ships carrying almost 85,000 passengers are due into port which, along with shops and restaurants in the historical centre, should also benefit local hotels as many cruises will start and end in Malaga, meaning passengers may well stay at local hotels before or after their trip.

The September to November period will concentrate 40 per cent of all cruise visits to the city this year, Malaga Port has reported, with up to 225,000 passengers expected; 14 per cent more than in autumn 2014.

Key dates this month are October 27 when four ships (one being the massive ‘Allure of the Seas’) are due into port with capacity for more than 13,000 passengers, and October 29 when six ships are due to arrive.
