Two drown in separate tragedies in Catalonia

THERE were two deaths by drowning of holiday makers recorded in Catalonia on Tuesday October 6.

Despite the fact that a red flag was flying on the Llevant beach in Salou indicating that it was unsafe to enter the water, a 48 year old British male decided to ignore the warning and entered the sea.

When he didn´t return to the shore, his wife reported that he was missing and the Mossos d’Esquadra, Local Police and Maritime Rescue were called out. His body was located and he was declared dead.

Earlier on the same morning a 50 year woman from Lithuania went swimming with another Lithuanian woman in the calm seas at Sa Caleta beach Lloret de Mar with a green flag flying. She got into difficulty and although her friend was able to leave the water, she was not and an emergency alarm was called.

A rescue helicopter found the body and brought it back to land where she was also declared dead
