Turkish man arrested for terrorism crimes

National Police in Alicante have arrested a Turkish citizen who is wanted by authorities in his own country on charges of terrorism.

The arrest was made under an international arrest warrant and he has appeared before the National Central Criminal Court to deal with his extradition.

The detainee is 34-years-old and is accused of being linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organisation.

Spanish police received an international arrest warrant from Interpol for the Turkish citizen who was said to have been hiding in the province of Alicante.

Police investigations led them to the town of Torrellano in Elche, where the suspect was discovered working in a kebab shop and was subsequently arrested

The PKK is a separatist group considered as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
