REGIONAL councillor for the Treasury and Public Administration of Andalucia, Maria Jesus Montero announced an intention to increase the overall regional budget by 3 per cent to just over €30 billion which amongst other measures would allow for the employment of an additional 218 doctors and 360 teachers.

The proposal which has been agreed in principle on October 13 between the PSOE and Ciudadanos is expected to be approved by the governing council and then parliament.

Other good news included a decision to propose a small reduction in regional income tax for those earning less than €60,000, additional assistance to the self-employed and the closing of 18 public organisations which are considered uneconomic or redundant to requirement.
