Primark opens flagship store in Madrid

PRIMARK has opened a new five storey clothes store on Gran Via in Madrid on Thursday morning October 15.

The Irish low cost fashion outlet has launched the five storey 12,000 square metre store as part of its European expansion. The new flagship Madrid store is the biggest in mainland Europe.

The popular retail chain stocks men’s and women’s fashion with many lines of homeware. The building on Gran Via has distinctive features such as a glass dome and an atrium overlooked by balconies.

The building was purchased by Amancio Ortega, Spain’s richest man, in January. Ortega is the company of Inditex, a retail company whose portfolio includes the popular fashion brand, Zara.

The Madrid store is the second biggest Primark has across its global outlets, after its largest shop in Manchester.

Primark now have a total number of 40 stores in Spain and employs 7,300 people in Spain.
