LOCAL schools in Motril will be hosting Romanian courses for children in an aim to ensure those of Romanian origin do not lose their roots.
Education Councillor Mercedes Sanchez announced the courses, explaining that they have been arranged in collaboration with the Romanian Language Institute and Ministry of Education, Investigation, Youth and Sports, and are aimed at children between the ages of three and 18.
“There is a considerable number of young people with Romanian origins in Motril who are interested in learning more about their ancestors’ traditions, culture and language,” Sanchez explained.
The free classes will be given in the afternoons at various public schools and pupils will receive diplomas after completing the courses.
