ARSENAL have put themselves back in the frame for the knockout phase of the Champions League after an exciting 2-0 win over Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The Gunners´ keeper Petr Cech made outstanding saves from efforts by Thiago Alcantara and Arturo Vidal. On the other side of the field Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neur made a great save following a Theo Walcott header in the first half but momentum switched after the interval.

On the 77th minute substitute Olivier Giroud found the back of the net from close range and in the last moments of the game Mesut Ozil sealed the win for Arsenal.

Arsenal have reached the knockout stages in the last 15 seasons and will now go to the Allianz Arena on November 4 with renewed expectations following the loss of their first two away games.

Though still at the bottom of Group F, they are level on three points with Dinamo Zagreb. Olympiakos and Bayern Munich are both on six points.

The top two teams in each group go on to the knockouts and the third placed team will play in the Europa League.

Among the other results from Tuesday games was a 0-0 draw between Chelsea and Dynamo Kiev which means that Jose Mourinho´s side have won only one game out of five in all competitions.

Mourinho however saw the up side after the game:

“We are much more solid now. Two matches, two clean sheets. The team was really solid and compact, the midfield really strong.”
