Lewis Hamilton was victorious at the US Grand Prix on Sunday October 25 in his 10th victory of 2015 and his third F1 World Championship.

Hamilton, 30, equalled his hero Ayrton Senna with the third title and is now the second British driver after Sir Jackie Stewart to have won three.

Hamilton´s Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg came in second with Sebastian Vettel placing third for Ferrari.

Elton John took to the podium during the celebrations and Hamilton told him: “I can´t find the right words to tell you how amazing this feels.”

In a race that saw two safety cars, two more virtual safety cars and crashes, Hamilton finished 76 points clear of the field with 75 points still available.

With 15 laps to go Rosberg was dominating until Red Bull´s Daniil Kvyat spun off at Turn 19 and the safety car came out. Hamilton took the opportunity to make a second stop and competed with Rosberg for the last 10 laps.

Hamilton took advantage when Rosberg came off the track and he swept past the German to take and hold the lead.

The rain at the weekend from the edges of the tropical storm Patricia meant that qualifying had to take place on Sunday morning. The race started on a wet track but once it began to dry it was the two Mercedes drivers who were out in front.

A delighted Lewis Hamilton after the race declared: “This is the greatest moment of my life.”
