A tropical surprise for local walkers

A GROUP of walkers from Almuñecar were amazed last weekend to discover a tropical jewel tucked away almost under their noses, which they had no idea existed.

On the walk, one of a series organised by Almuñecar Sports Department, visitors were treated to sights of giant tropical trees, caves and waterfalls which they later reported made them feel more like they were in a Burmese forest than just kilometres from their homes.

The next trip is planned for November 8 and will be covering a hilly hiking route in Alayos del Dilar, near Sierra Nevada. Those wishing to sign up can do so at the sports department offices at Francisco Bonet stadium.
